For the second year in a row, the WNBA and Playa Society, the brand that was designed to celebrate and empower women in sports, have created a Black History Month sweatshirt that highlights the WNBA’s recognition and appreciation for the contributions Black women have continuously made in growing the game of basketball.
The sweatshirt is a limited-edition item, with the WNBA’s portion of profits going toward non-profit Black Girl Ventures and with athlete Esther Wallace-founded Playa Society retaining its portion. Black Girl Ventures provides Black/Brown woman-identifying business entrepreneurs with access to community, capital, and capacity building in order to meet business milestones that lead to economic advancement through entrepreneurship.
The all black hoodie features the words “WNBA Black History Every Game” in the WNBA orange and cream color way on the front chest and full back side, with the Playa Society logo on both sleeves. It’s a great and comfortable look to rock to your next game.
Get the hoodie on the Playa Society website when it drops on Friday, February 3, 2023.
Plus be sure to tune in as the WNBA features unique content series throughout the month including, “BHM Emerging Leaders,” a four-part series from WNBA journalist Dorothy Gentry highlighting various leaders from the African-American community who have made a major impact on the WNBA, from playing in the league, to reporting on the game, and to serving in the front office of teams.
